Keep each step visible
A useful pathway explanation distinguishes molecular interaction, a measured cellular response, an animal outcome and a human endpoint. The evidence supporting one step may be much stronger than the evidence connecting all of them.
Avoid replacing this chain with an unqualified benefits list. Ask whether a proposed receptor interaction was measured directly, inferred from downstream effects or simply repeated from another summary.
Compare families without declaring a winner
GLP-1, GIP, glucagon and amylin-related interventions should not be treated as one interchangeable category. A comparison needs the exact molecule and receptor activity, followed by study-specific population, intervention and outcome details.
Similarly, a growth hormone-releasing factor analogue is not equivalent to every compound described as a growth hormone secretagogue. A pathway name groups a research topic; it does not erase differences among interventions.
Compare a pathway claim with an actual trial
The selected STEP 1 semaglutide report is a randomized human trial of a specified study product, population and treatment period. It should not be used as generic proof for every incretin-related compound or a four-component research blend.
The SLU-PP-332 guide makes a different distinction: an ERR-related cell or mouse response is not a demonstrated human exercise replacement. These examples belong in different evidence categories.
A mechanism-to-outcome worksheet
Before accepting a claim, try to fill every row. A blank should remain an unanswered question rather than being supplied by an attractive theory.
| Step | Question |
|---|---|
| Molecule | Which exact material was studied? |
| Interaction | What target evidence exists? |
| Model | Cell, animal or human? |
| Outcome | What was actually measured? |
| Comparison | Compared with what, over what period? |
| Boundary | What clinical conclusion remains untested? |
